Have I went over to the Dark Side?

Posted in Games with tags , , on 09/11/2012 by arthur1977

I have a confession to make, I bought an Angry Birds game. Not because of the hype, not because they have sold millions of copies, but because it’s Angry Birds STAR WARS!!!

I have never played any of the previous versions but I am enjoying this one. Each bird is linked to a character from the original trilogy and has their own special power. I have managed to clear 70 zones, some being rather easy while other forced me to put my phone down for a little bit.

I don’t think I will go back and play the other Angry Bird games like one of my coworkers thinks, but this game nicely killed numerous hours at work last night.

If you are a fan of either series I do suggest you download this game and give it a try for yourself.

May the Force be with you.

Having no luck in the hunting game, but still enjoying the people.

Well another week in the Coliseum and I finally managed to scrape out a B ranking, finally some respectable stones! With the conclusion of the coliseum it also means another 2 cracks at acquiring a 5* in the hunting grounds.

As the title shows my hunting did not go as well as I hoped. I used one ticket in the Bernside Plains and collected 3-4*`s (Vampire (Fast), Angle (Fast) and Kraken (Cool)) and a few 3*`s, overall it was a solid hunt and I plan to level up the Angel to join my coliseum team. The second ticket I used the in new Storm Reach Snowfield and had my first `Frozen Trigger` which prevented me from shooting for about 10 seconds…D`oh!!

Guardian Cross - Super RareThe hunt left me a little disappointed but after I finished my coffee I headed home focused on the positives and started leveling my Angel.

I know I am not the only one with this problem of missing out on the big hunts and struggling to get 5*`s. A few friends have been lucky recently and I am the first one to offer them congratulations (along with a quick trade inquiry, lol). The people on my friends list are one of the main reasons I am still playing this game, even after failed hunts and coliseum losses I usually have a note in my mail box or slime in my treasure chest.

I am still short about 15 invites for unlocking my final invite reward (Lord of the Inferno 5*), so if you are interested in trying this game please us my invite code: ND24889. If I manage to get the unlock I am more than willing to list other peoples codes but unfortunately not until then.

🙂

All the best and happy hunting everyone!

Change of venue, Change of luck?

Posted in Games, iPod, Square Enix, Uncategorized with tags , , , , on 15/10/2012 by arthur1977

Well I must admit I was starting to get a little frustrated with not being able to land a 5*Guardian in Guardian Cross. I recently reached level 79 and have used a total of 9 special hunting tickets with very limited success (only four 4*s). My coliseum team is still performing well and is able to take down teams with 5*s but tends to max out in the C+ level once the going gets tough.

Instead of rage quitting, I decided with my 2 new Special hunting tickets I would go out and have a coffee and croissant at my local Starbucks and see if a change of venue would have and difference. I also though about my approach in hunting with the Special tickets, i decided to do some research on the types of shadows that I should be targeting for the best odds for getting a 5*. I focused on the Glaverow Volcanic Zone and noted that to have the most success of getting a 5* I should aim for the Vampire shadow first (3-5*s, 1-4* and 2-3*s or 50% chance per shadow) followed by the Giant (1-5*, 2-4*, and 3-3* or 17%) and Wolf (1-5*, 2-4* and 4-3* or 14%). I also noted that there was only one possible guardian you can get for killing the floater shadow, and that was Dullahan (4*).

With my hunting plan set and a half drank black coffee sitting on the table in front of me I ran through a few normal hunting tickets to warm up. Taking another sip of coffee I selected my Special hunting ticket and hoped for the best! After taking a quick look around for a vampire shadow and seeing none I took down 2 giants and a wolf with no success, then I saw a floater and though sweet there is my Dullahan. With about 20 seconds left I located another giant and went to work taking it down, and would you guessed it my luck did change and I pulled in my first 5* am Ifrit (Int)!

With a smile on my face I left Starbucks and headed back home for a day of home renovations.

I really think my researching helped me in getting the Ifrit, knowing what shadows to target (ie. avoiding all the serpents) increased my chances of success. If you are having troubles landing one I suggest you do the same.

Happy Hunting!!

Bonus note, there is only 1 possible guardian for killing a bird shadow in the Berneside Plains using a Special hunting ticket and that is the 5* Phoenix!

Building my team in Guardian Cross

I am still working on filling out my deck in Guardian Cross.  I like how my coliseum team is starting to look with my recent acquisitions of a Vampire and Giant in the last couple of days.  I have yet to luck out and land any 5* guardians either by trade or hunting even though I have used 6 special hunting tickets.  To get two of those tickets I purchased 400 hundred coins from the Coin Dealer and had my two worst hunts yet (I did not even manage to get a 4*, LOL), but since I have logged many hours in the game I still don’t regret giving Square-Enix some cash.

My plan over the next week is to try and trade and finish a few more collection pages (8+9) for the rewards (recovery potions and special hunting tickets) and work on getting my Vampire maxed out.  I have managed to get my hands on a second Byakko and hope I can turn it into something I need.

My success in the coliseum has been inconstant to say the least.  At times I can take down  a team that has a maxed out 5* Guardian, where others I my team stumbles to get started and ends up getting steam rolled.  My group really struggles when it is faced with a team filled with guardians that revive, nothing is as demoralizing as killing a maxed level Phoenix just to have him reappear!  Add me as a friend: Yurika.  Let me know if you have anything to trade and drop me a line if you have any 5*’s because I would really love to get my hands on one… especially a Dominion!

Beat down by a 5* Dominion!

5 Star Bahamut…. YES Please!

ImageIn there recent update for Guardian Cross they announced that you have a chance of acquiring a 5-Star Bahamut hunting the boss creature in the Glaverow Volcanic Zone.  Since that announcement I have been grinding for hunting tickets and managed to kill one boss mob, unfortunately I “only” got the 4 star Suzaku.

Oh well, I am still loving the game and have no problem trying again!

12 days of Guardian Cross

Posted in Final Fantasy, Games, Square Enix with tags , , , , on 25/09/2012 by arthur1977

I am still addicted to Guardian Cross after 12 days and many charges of my iPhone. I have finished the first episode and am now working through the side quests to gain experience and both coliseum and hunting tickets.  Sunday night marked the end of the first coliseum battle and I finished Ranked B (rankings go from S+, S, A+, A, B+, down to D) which netted me a few skill stones (permanent skill boost), and 2 special hunting tickets (only 3 star guardians or better when hunting).

I have finally acquired my first 4 star Guardian buy killing the boss monster in the Glaverow Volcanic Zone, which got me Seiryu.  Since then I have also picked up 2 more (Medusa and Hecatoncheir) with my special hunting tickets that I won in the Coliseum.

Now that I have them I am working on leveling them up to help me compete during the next round of the Coliseum which started early Monday morning. For this round of the Coliseum you now have an option between different coliseums, one for beginners (only 1 of each guardian with a max level of 10) or Official (no doubles, only 1 almighty) that offer slightly different rewards.

I am interested to see how long it takes them to put out the 2nd episode and the different type of coliseum battles then have going forward.  As before if you are interested in trying the game, please use my invitation code: ND24889 for a free Final Fantasy card.

Max out Mog!

I am still spending a fair amount of time battling in Guardian Cross. I managed to finally level up Good King Moggle Mog XII to 50!

With the cards I currently have I think I have topped out in the Coliseum with a B+ rating. Most people that a duel at the higher ranks now seem to have at least a few 4 star cards (you can spend a few $ and get special hunting tickets the increase you % chance of rare cards). Unfortunately I have none, but my next FF unlock card does happen to be the 4 star rated Cerberus which means I will have to bug a few more people.

Thanks to my family and friends who used my invite code ND24889, my next milestone is only 4 away so if you are interested in playing please use my code.

All the best!
